Every superhero needs a souper spoon, and every human is a superhero. That is a lot of spoons!

Chai's spoon
This spoon was made as a gift for a man from Thailand named Chai who gave me some massage on Orcas Island last summer. It is made from Oregon big leaf maple.
Scotch Broom
When I was in Humboldt County this early March and did some work clearing invasive weeds I kept aside the largest section of scotch broom trunk for carving. It is a fairly soft, but very sturdy wood, and was a pleasure to carve. It was completed in just two sittings, which is rare for me. The brown streak on the handle was a pleasant surprise. To me it gives the impression of a wound or shadow being overtaken, healed by the light. It is part of the overall beauty of the spoon.
This spoon was sold 4/8/2017 in silent auction to benefit my friend, a wonderful woman named Thea Davis towards her healing.
